Amber is not a mineral, but rather fossilised tree resin. It is treasured not only for its natural beauty, but also for its ability to preserve delicate biological material in extraordinary detail. Burmese amber in particular is highly prized due to its Cretaceous age, making it significantly older than most commercial amber.. There is a glue dot behind it making it look like a crack.

Fabulous piece of amber with remarkably clear insect - mind blowingly old as a Cretaceous period capture! Very pleased with my purchase - thank you!
